How can we help?

The 20 things people ask us most, answered properly. If yours is not here, write to us and a real person will pick it up.

Getting started

Do I need a card to start?

No. Essentials is free forever (your client pays the booking fee at checkout) and you can run your whole day on it without giving us any payment details. You only add a card if you decide to move to Advanced.

I am a solo nail tech. Is this too much for me?

No. About half of what we build is aimed squarely at people working on their own. You get the booking page, the clients, the payments and the reports without a team to manage or a second location to worry about.

How long does it take to set up?

Most people have their services, hours and booking page up in an afternoon. Bringing your clients over is a file upload, and we can help with that.

Is there an app for my phone?

ChairWatch works properly in a phone browser today, so you can run your day from it right now. A dedicated app is in development, and we will say so plainly when it lands rather than quietly.

Plans and money

Is it really free if I work on my own?

Yes, on Essentials. Your client pays the booking fee at checkout, so you pay us nothing. If you choose to cover the fee yourself, that is the only thing you would pay us. Card processing is Stripe’s and is separate.

What is the booking fee?

It is 3.5% plus $1.50 on each appointment booked through ChairWatch. By default your client covers it at checkout, the same way they would anywhere else they book online, so your service price is what lands with you.

Do I have to pass the booking fee on to my clients?

No. You choose. Leave it on your clients, carry it yourself, or split it so they cover part of it. You can change it whenever you like, and if you would rather your client never saw an extra line on the bill, just absorb it.

So what do I actually pay?

Two things, and they are separate. The booking fee of 3.5% plus $1.50 on each appointment, which you can pass on to your clients, and your plan, which is free on Essentials or $30 a month on Advanced. Card processing is Stripe’s and is separate from both.

How do I get paid?

Card money is moved by Stripe and lands in your own bank account. You set up an online payments account once, and after that it runs in the background.

Is my ChairWatch account the same as my payments account?

No, and it is worth knowing the difference. Your ChairWatch account is your login, your book and your clients. Your online payments account is with Stripe and is what moves the card money. They are two separate things and changing one does not touch the other.

What does ChairWatch cost?

Essentials is free forever, and your client pays the booking fee at checkout by default. Advanced is $30 a month, covering up to 6 staff, with each extra person at $5 a month. On top of your plan there is a booking fee of 3.5% plus $1.50 per appointment, which you can pass on to your clients. Card processing is Stripe’s and is separate from both.

What counts as a staff member on Advanced?

Anyone with their own login who takes bookings. Advanced covers up to 6 of them for $30 a month, and each extra person is $5 a month. Chair renters count, because they get their own book and their own pay.

Can I go back to the free plan?

Yes, any time. You keep your bookings, your clients and your history. The Advanced features switch off and nothing else does.

Do you take a cut of what I earn?

We do not take a percentage of everything you sell. What we charge is the booking fee on each appointment, 3.5% plus $1.50, which you can pass on to your clients, plus $30 a month if you are on Advanced. Retail, tips and anything you ring up at the counter are yours.

Moving over from something else

Can I bring my clients over from what I use now?

Yes. Clients, their contact details and their history come over from a spreadsheet or an export from your old system. If it is messy, send it anyway and we will look at it.

What happens to my clients if I leave?

They are your clients. You can export them whenever you want, including on the free plan. We are not in the business of holding your book hostage.

Will my clients have to make a new account?

No. They book on your page with their name, email or phone. Nobody is forced to sign up for anything before they can give you money.

How the product works

Can I use my own domain?

Not yet. Your booking page has its own ChairWatch link today, and you can share it anywhere: your bio, your texts, a QR code at the desk.

Does it handle booth renters?

Yes. Booth rent is charged and collected properly, alongside commission, hourly and salary. Most software in this industry pretends chair renters do not exist.

Can I run more than one shop?

Yes, on Advanced. Each location keeps its own hours, team, prices and stock, and you can still see the whole business as one set of numbers.

Still stuck?

Tell us what you were trying to do and what happened instead. The more ordinary the detail the better, and you will not be handed a bot.
